Oggy Movie Song

The Oggy Oggy Oggychant (alternatively spelt Oggie Oggie Oggie), and its variations, are often heard at sporting events, political rallies and around numerous Scout and Guide campfires, primarily in Britain, Ireland and some Commonwealth nations. One group will shout Oggy three times, while another will respond with Oi! three times.

Of Cornish origin, the chant appeared in British sports grounds in the 1960s and 1970s, namely rugby union and football. Welsh singer and comedian Max Boyce popularised its use in Rugby Union, while in football a popular variation was the “Ozzy Ozzy Ozzy” chant by Chelsea fans in homage to their star striker Peter Osgood.[1] When Margaret Thatcher became British Prime Minister in 1979 a variation of the chant, 'Maggie Maggie Maggie, Out Out Out!', was adopted by some of her opponents.[2]

Augie Doggie and Doggie Daddy are Hanna-Barbera cartoon characters who debuted on The Quick Draw McGraw Show and appeared in their own segment. The segments centered around the misadventures of a dachshund father-and-son team. This is my experimental edit.bollywood song with my favorite cartoon show 'oggy and the cockroaches' for kids hope people like this.

The usual form of the chant consists of two groups, one shouting the word 'Oggy!' and the other group shouting the word 'Oi!' Often a single individual will shout 'Oggy' and everyone else will shout the reply, 'Oi!'. The words are shouted according to the following pattern.

One theory for the origin of the chant stems from Cornwall – or rather Devonport just the other side of the River Tamar. 'Oggy' is a slang term for a Cornish pasty, derived from its Cornish name, 'hoggan',[3] and was used by local Devon and Cornish sailors at the Devonport Dockyard in reference to pasty sellers who once stood outside the gates.[4] The Devonport marines are still associated with the song which they generally sing at public displays.

Tin-miners' wives or pasty sellers supposedly shouted 'Oggy Oggy Oggy' – the response from any hungry miner or labourer would be Oi!, Oi!, Oi!. The chant is also the chorus of a folk song and has always been heard at Cornish rugby matches so this seem another possible origin.[5]

The Oxford English Dictionary (2004) entry for 'Oggy' states: 'Oggy, noun. West Country regional (orig. Cornwall) and Navy slang. A Cornish pasty. Probably an alteration of Cornish hoggan pastry, pie (18th century), perhaps cognate with Welsh chwiogen muffin, simnel cake (1562), of unknown origin.'[6]

Members of the Royal Navy claim to have used the chant, or a version of it, since the Second World War.[7]The 'Oggie, Oggie, Oggie' chant was used by supporters of the Royal Navy's Devonport Field Gun Team. (The field gun competition was disbanded in 1999 after a hundred years of competition).[8]

It was then adopted at a few British football grounds at some point during the postwar period, and was certainly in common use by the 1960s most notably at Home Park amongst the supporters of Plymouth Argyle.

In the 1970s the Welsh folk singer and comedian Max Boyce popularised the chant to excite the crowd at his concerts.[1] Boyce is also a big rugby union fan, and through him it then began to be adopted by Welsh rugby union crowds at international matches. Soon it spread to rugby crowds at club and international level. In a patriotic outburst during her BAFTA Award acceptance speech in 2003 Welsh actress Catherine Zeta-Jones shouted the chant.[9]

The chant was also used by Coventry City football fans during the 1980s and 1990s in appreciation to then goalkeeper Steve Ogrizovic who had been nicknamed 'Oggy'.

It is also often used at sideshows on rides such as the Heartbreaker and the Waltzers, where the rides controller says 'oggie, oggie, oggie' and the people on the ride shout 'oi, oi, oi' to get the ride to speed up or get more spins etc.

Use within scouting and guiding[edit]

Oggy Oggy Oggy has long been a major chant within Scouting and Guiding, especially within the UK. 'An Oggy' as it is termed within Troops and Units is usually used at Scouting events and as a way of expressing thanks to those within and outside Scouting.

Several variations of the 'Oggy' chant have arisen as its cultural significance and recognition has grown. In the mid 1960s Hull City A.F.C. fans adapted it to 'Waggy,' to cheer for Ken Wagstaff and in the 1970s, Chelsea F.C. football fans changed it to 'Ozzie,' in honour of Peter Osgood, the footballer.[1] When Margaret Thatcher came to power in Britain in 1979 a variation of the chant ('Maggie Maggie Maggie, Out Out Out!') was adopted by some of her opponents.[2]

The 'Oggy' chant was quite popular in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, in the late 1970s and early 1980s at the matches of North American Soccer League version of the Vancouver Whitecaps.

Another variation is the 'Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi' chant. It had been heard at Australian sporting events as early as 1987.[10] The chant had found widespread popularity by the time of the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.[11]

At Arizona Diamondbacks games during the 2008–09 seasons, fans would shout 'Augie Augie Augie, Oi Oi Oi' in reference to utility infielder Augie Ojeda. (In many dialects of American English, 'Augie' and 'Oggy' are homophones).

The chant has been adopted by the fans of English rugby unionpremiership side Wasps changing 'Oggy' to 'Allez' and 'Oi' to 'Wasps' and the Exeter Chiefs. replacing the word Oi with the word Chiefs.

The chant was also popular in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, where a variation had fans of the Calgary Flames shout 'Iggy, Iggy, Iggy, Oi Oi Oi' when Jarome Iginla fought or scored in a game. This was especially popular during his 50-goal season in the 2007–08 NHL season.

In Sweden a popular version of the chant is 'Bira Bira Bira, Bärs Bärs Bärs'. Both words are slang for beer. It is used mostly among students and young people.

In France, there is another version: 'Atchik Atchik Atchik, Aie Aie Aie'. It's usually played in football match. This Tchik-atchik-atchik-aï-aï-aï is reminiscent of the song La Belle de Cadix by Francis Lopez.

A more recent variant of the chant has been adopted by fans of the British male singer and former runner up of The X Factor, Olly Murs. Here, it is changed slightly so that the chant becomes 'Olly, Olly, Olly, Oi Oi Oi', and it is often chanted at his live concert tours/public appearances or incited by Murs himself at such events as these.

In Season 2, Episode 1, Part 1 of the Office TV series, Gareth Keenan receiving a call from his friend Nathan nicknamed Oggy gives a 'Oggy Oggy Oggy! Oink oink oink!' variation which Tim calls 'a pig impersonation'.[12]

In the 1990s, in Birmingham, UK, when some children played outside in areas with very few people, and who became temporarily split up and lost from their friends or family while playing, they would shout “Oggy, oggy, oggy” for their friends or family to hear their general direction and to respond with “Oi, oi, oi”. They used this to try and find each other again through sound and hearing. This may not have been limited to the 1990s, and may not have been limited to Birmingham, UK.

In the UK TV drama Skins, schoolteacher Doug frequently shouts 'Oggy oggy oggy!' to his students, but they never respond.

Oggy Magnon[edit]

Millions of years ago, when the world was made there was a village with many cats. In the meantime, Oggy Magnon was playing a flute and a drum when suddenly, he saw fire in the hands of the village chief. He was afraid of fire due to this: When he was young and a storm struck out burning a tree, he got burned, causing him to cry. Back to the story, the roaches started taking the fire, but Joey sneezed. The Village chief thought Oggy was the culprit and was really angry at him. Jack came along to the volcano. In the meantime, Magnon looked at a flower. It almost bit him, but DeeDee ate it all up. Even on the way, Oggy was just taking a bath in a pool until a swarm of piranhas attacked him. When they reached the walls, they chose who had to go by playing a game. Oggy 'lost' against Jack, so he had to go restore the fire. But the cockroaches messed everything up, making themselves and the Magnon fall. Inside the volcano was a jungle that has a dog named Bob and his servants. The servants tied the cat up, bringing it to Bob. Olivia saved Oggy in time. Then it was no one but him and Olivia. When she greeted him, Oggy let out a cry as if he were in trouble, and then he was unconscious. When he woke up, he found out that he was in Olivia's flowerhouse, her hideout from the trollish enemies. She had also put leaves to recover Oggy's feet. In that time, Olivia left him for a few minutes to something, then he fell fast asleep. He dreamt about Olivia for a few moments and then he woke up. The roaches were the only reason to wake him up, so he tried to hit them until Olivia returned. He threw his weapon away. The scene was switched to the two cats walking. Oggy saw a flower which once bit him. Olivia told Oggy it was harmless when he was afraid of the flower. When the two were looking at the beautiful sunset, making it evident they both fell in love with each other, as when they were looking the sunset, they entwined their tails. In the meantime, Jack had also found the two which then resulted in a major problem for these guys. The cockroaches had told Bob that they have been to Olivia's flowerhouse and they know the location. For this, they kidnapped Jack and Olivia. Meanwhile, Oggy was out to occupy himself. When he found out that the two were missing, he cried, then started finding them. Olivia told Oggy Magnon that the only way to free them is to use fire. But he told the female cat that he was afraid of fire. So she raised the stakes. If he would save the two using fire, he would be the hero of her life. Oggy starts daydreaming of what would happen if he had saved her and he accepted the deal, going back to the village . So Oggy Magnon found those stones and built the fire. He had saved Jack and Olivia. When the two males were escaping, the female refused to come. Then Oggy told Olivia that her flowerhouse was burned down to ashes, so she decided to come with them. Back at the village, Joey was the chief for a few minutes until he sneezed again and he, Marky and Dee Dee are chased by the tribe, The chief said that how would they get fire again. Oggy had just the thing: the rocks. He used them to recover the village's fire. At this cost, the young Oggy Magnon became the next chief of the village.

Prince Oggy[edit]

The next story takes place in 1350, in a good-looking kingdom as they reveal a new statue of Oggy I who had defeated the Cockroach king. Trumpets were being blown as the king was handing his sword down to his prince named Oggy II. But after the sword was broken by an accident, the prince never met someone who could actually be capable of becoming a princess. The King (Prince Oggy's father) requested him to ride a horse, fight a dragon, and raid the enemy's kingdom. But the prince replied negatively about those things. He said he would fail doing all that stuff. When the princess audition started, no lady became the next princess. The prince and the commander in chief, Jack, came alongside with him. If they would hunt animals they would get money. But they did not know that there was someone living in this forest. Prince Oggy wanted to take the butterfly. Jack was hunting for dangerous animals for a big loot. A shadow-like appeared, disappearing the wild boar and the second animal. The third animal was almost gotten when a person kicked Jack. When they were fighting it was revealed that the guardian was Olivia. She called the animals to punish Jack, but the prince had finally found a perfect match! But she was not happy because the young prince had captured the butterfly he was trying to capture. Then he let the butterfly go. She then became happy of what Oggy did. Olivia told the prince that he would be a nicer man if he had carried her to her own house. And so he did. More animals punished Jack, but Oggy liked the place. Olivia gave the prince a piece of cloth so he would not forget her. When he came back to the castle he told his father and his mother that he had finally found a perfect match! The King and the Queen were very happy on his son. That he had found Olivia as the match. But something was not right. Black Knight Joey (the son of the Cockroach King) and his companions, Dee Dee and Marky, had devastated an evil plan to take over the kingdom. Olivia was captured and it was up to Oggy and Jack to save her once and for all. Oggy and Jack got in and rescued Olivia. When the prince and Olivia met again, they were going round and round. Using the curtain ropes was a brilliant idea to get out, but the cockroaches exploded the bridge to the castle and outside. Then the guardian called the birds to carry them to the other side. They were almost pronounced prince and princess when Oggy had to fight Joey again. But the prince won, and they lived happily ever after, except for the evil cockroaches, who were locked up in a cage on Bob's collar.
